Our Next Event

Event: 2-Day Retreat: Hope and Sacred Activism.

Facilitator: Andrew Harvey.
Venue: Main Room, City of Edinburgh Methodist Church, 25 Nicolson Square, Edinburgh, EH8 9BX.
Dates: Saturday 14 - Sunday 15 April 2018.
Time: Registration: 9.30am-10am. Retreat Days: 10am-5pm.
Event Description: These chaotic and dangerous times are challenging all of us to put love and wisdom into clear, wise action urgently. Andrew Harvey will present his vision of Sacred Activism, the holy and transforming force that is born when the profound peace, passion, and stamina of deep spirituality is combined with radical action. He will present drawing on his books The Hope - A Guide to Sacred Activism and Savage Grace the five Sacred Passions and the nine Laws of Sacred Activism along with the Fundamental Practices that can ground you in divine peace, joy, strength and give you the energy to persist and thrive even in difficult circumstances. Guidance will also be given into inner and outer shadow work that is essential for the success of Sacred Action. You will leave this retreat with renewed hope, purpose and meaning and have simple essential tools with which to confront with grace the challenges our contemporary crisis inevitable poses.

Andrew Harvey is an internationally acclaimed poet, novelist, translator, mystical scholar, and spiritual teacher. He has written and edited more than 30 books—including the best-selling titles ‘The Hope’ and ‘The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying.’ He has won the Christmas Humphries Prize (‘A Journey in Ladakh’), the Nautilus Prize twice (‘The Hope’, ‘Light the Flame’), and appeared in two recent films (‘Dancing in the Flames,’ and Ethan Hawke’s ‘Seymour: An Introduction’). He has taught at Oxford University, Cornell University, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, The California Institute of Integral Studies, and the University of Creation Spirituality as well as at various spiritual centers throughout the United States. He is the founder and director of the Institute of Sacred Activism. He is a kind-hearted rascal with a penchant for red pashminas, Maria Callas, white lions and Chicago pizza.
